Standards of education and training Date of publication: 27/06/2017 | Category: Standards | Audience: Registrants | This document sets out the standards of education and training (SETs). These are the standards against which we assess education and training programmes. A programme which meets the SETs allows a student who successfully completes that programme to meet the standards of proficiency. They are then eligible to apply to the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) for registration.
We published these revised SETs on 27 June 2017, which will apply to all programmes from September 2018.
Key changes
We have introduced new standards requiring:
•interprofessional education – that all learners have the opportunity to learn from and with professionals and learners from other relevant professions; •learner involvement – that learners are able to contribute to the programme in some way; and •support to enable learners to raise concerns. Other changes changes include:
•updates to terminology to ensure it is broad, inclusive and up to date; and •strengthening how our standards of conduct, performance and ethics are embedded into curriculum and assessment.
