Health Professions Council response to CHRE performance review report 2009/10

Date of publication: 05/07/2010
Category: Position statement
Audience: Journalists and media
The Health Professions Council (HPC) welcomes the publication of the Council for Healthcare Regulatory Excellence (CHRE annual performance review report.

The review commended the Council on various aspects including the HPC’s plans to enhance communications with complainants and for its risk-based and proportionate approach to CPD amongst others.

The report states:
‘The HPC is a well organised, efficient and cost effective regulator. This has helped it maintain a good performance during a year that saw it assume responsibility for two further professions – practitioner psychologists and private hearing aid dispensers’.

The HPC looks forward to the publication of the CHRE’s annual report and find it valuable to have an external review of our processes. The CHRE has raised some two progress areas which we will address and we look forward to working with the CHRE over the coming year.
