08/08/2012 - 13:30
The Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) welcomes the publication of Margaret Flynn’s serious case review following reports of patient abuse at Winterbourne Private Hospital.
Since the publication of the government command paper* in February 2011, the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) has been working to ensure that social workers in England transferred from the General Social Care Council into regulation by the HCPC. Having completed this work, the HCPC is now addressing the important issue of the regulation for the adult social care workforce and social care workers in England.

*The Government, Command paper Enabling Excellence Autonomy and Accountability for Healthcare Workers, Social Workers and Social Care Workers published in February 2011 proposed that we should explore putting in place a system of regulation for the adult social care workforce, with a view to opening a Register for Social Care Workers in 2013.
