HPC launches new guidance for students 07/01/2010 New guidance for students The Health Professions Council (HPC) has launched its new guidance on conduct and ethics for students.
The guidance has been designed for students and education providers. The purpose is to give students on education and training programmes guidance on issues about conduct and ethics. It will also help education providers teach students about conduct and ethics.
Michael Guthrie, Director of Policy and Standards said:
“We hope the guidance will be useful to students both on their training and once they are working. It will be one of the first introductions to the HPC for students and will outline what is expected of students once they join our Register.”
The HPC have based this new guidance for student on the Standards of conduct, performance and ethics. The HPC set standards of conduct, performance and ethics which apply to the professionals it registers. When applying for registration professionals are asked to sign a declaration to confirm that they have read and will keep to the standards once they are registered.
The guidance is part of broader work being undertaken by the HPC to engage students. The work includes a student area of the HPC website which was launched in October 2009 and is aimed at students, trainees and approved programme lecturers.
