Regional campaign - Birmingham 2006
This campaign involved an intensive awareness campaign in the Birmingham area.

The campaign ran throughout September and October 2006. It was aimed at increasing awareness amongst the general public and encouraging them to check if their health professional is registered.
The HPC are encouraging people to make sure they use a registered health professional to ensure they are treated with someone who meets national standards.
The HPC did some market research before the campaign and found that over 95% of people in Birmingham wouldn’t let an unqualified gas engineer or electrician (90 %) carry out repairs on their house, yet when it comes to people’s health almost 80% of patients don’t check if the person treating them is qualified.
The regional campaigns aremade up of advertising, public relations and promotions including articles in local newspapers, adverts on buses, bus shelters and radio advertising. The HPC also distributed information packs in local hospitals and GP surgeries.
The campaigns increase awareness by focussing on a specific region in the UK, we measure any increase in awareness by market research. The regional campaigns follow on from the successful launch of the public website www.HPCheck.org last year.
