UK approved programme
This section contains information about applying for registration for applicants who hold an approved qualification.
Completing an approved programme does not guarantee someone will become registered. It shows us the applicant meets our professional standards and is eligible to apply for registration. We need additional information from them in order to be able to register them.
The information provided by applicants helps us to know that:
- they are who they say they are;
- they meet our standards; and
- we can contact them if we need to.

Social workers registered in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales
A memorandum of understanding has been agreed between HCPC, the Care Council for Wales, the Northern Ireland Social Care Council and the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).
This means that if you are registered with one of the other regulators (listed above), you are eligible to apply for registration with HCPC. You should complete the application form for “UK approved programme” applicants
