Council elections

Changes to the Health Professions Order

The Department of Health have now submitted the statutory instrument to Parliament which will make changes to the Health Professions Order. This Order makes a number of amendments to the way HPC is governed. You will find further details on the OPSI website, here.

New Council appointments

One of the key changes will be to put in place a new, fully appointed Council. The Appointments Commission is running the process to select a new Chair and 19 Council members. If the draft constitution order is approved by Parliament the new Council is due take office on 1 July 2009. This will remove the requirement for any further elections to the Council.

Council elections 2009

In the unlikely event that the legislation is not cleared by Parliament, or if it becomes clear that it will be delayed by several months, an election may still be held. If the election goes ahead, it will follow the timetable here .

Please find below details of our most recent elections to Council.
