Consultation on Applied psychologists - Standards of proficiency

09/11/2007 - 08/02/2008

This consultation has now closed. You can download a copy of the consultation document and the consultation responses document below.

We have launched a consultation on standards of proficiency for applied psychologists. The standards of proficiency are threshold standards for the safe and effective practice of each of the professions we regulate.

In February 2007, the government published a white paper on the future of regulation, 'Trust, Assurance and Safety - The Regulation of Health Professionals in the 21st Century'. The white paper indicated that applied psychologists would be regulated by HPC.

We are now seeking the views of our stakeholders on standards of proficiency in preparation for the likely opening of the applied psychologists part of the Register next year.

This consultation will put the Council's proposed standards before a wide range of stakeholders, including professional bodies, employers, higher education institutions and others with an interest in our work.

The consultation will run for three months until Friday 8 February 2008.
