Standards of education and training

This page is about our standards of education and training. These are standards against which we assess education and training programmes.

This document sets out the standards of education and training against that an education programme must meet in order to be approved by us.

These generic standards ensure that any person who completes an approved programme meets the standards of proficiency for their profession and is therefore eligible to apply for admission.

We have also produced guidance on our standards of education and training to give education providers more information about how we will assess programmes against these standards.

These standards were produced in 2004 following public consultation. We carried out a review of the standards and consulted on the revised standards in 2008. The revised standards and guidance apply from September 2009
