Prosthetists and orthotists are responsible for all aspects of supplying prostheses and orthoses for patients. A prosthesis is a device that replaces a missing body part. An orthosis is a device fitted to an existing body part in order to improve its function or reduce pain.

Professional Bodies and/or Associations
Each of the professions regulated by us has at least one professional body and/or association. These organisations do work which may include promoting the profession, representing members, curriculum frameworks, post registration education and training and continuing professional development. HPC recruiting a Prosthetist and Orthotist professional
'The HPC is seeking to appoint a Prosthetist and Orthotist professional to serve on it's Education and Training Committee. 

Applications are sought from Educationalists or Practitioners with involvement in education. 

Only applicants appearing on the relevant part of the HPC Register will be considered. 

The Education and Training Committee has lead responsibility for:-
- Establishing standards of proficiency
- Establishing standards and requirements in respect of education and training and CPD
- Giving guidance in respect of the standards for the education and training, supervision and performance of persons who provide services in connection with those provided by Registrants.

The Committee meets on average 4 times per year.  Committee members are paid a daily allowance of £260, plus travel expenses and subsistence.  For more information please follow the link below.'
