Historical qualifications
If you hold a qualification which is more than five years old and you have not been registered before, we call this an ‘historical qualification’. If you hold an historical qualification and you have not been practising elsewhere (or if you have not practised in the last two years) you will need to meet our returners to practise requirements before you can become registered. Clarification of IHCD Paramedic Award approval status

Previously, the HPC approved the IHCD Paramedic Award delivered by Ambulance Trusts across the UK. IHCD (Part of Edexcel) was responsible for quality assuring each site of delivery and conferring the award. We approved the IHCD Paramedic Award irrespective of where it was delivered.

Now, we approve programmes delivered by specific ambulance trusts which implement the IHCD paramedic award curriculum to varying degrees. These programmes are listed below alongside the programmes delivered by higher education institutions and private education providers.
